Location: Hengelo, Netherlands<br><br><b> About Thales </b><br><br>In the Netherlands, where more than 2200 employees are based, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions and research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).<br><br>The assignment is done as part of the Electro-Optical (EO) team in the System Engineering department. The EO-team is responsible for analyzing customer requirements regarding EO-systems and translate these to product requirements and functions. In addition, the team is involved with the necessary R&D activities to meet these requirements.<br><br><b> About the assignment </b><br><br>The video in our EO-systems is used for recognition, classification and identification of interesting objects in the surrounding of naval ships. Image Enhancement processing can optimize the stabilized raw video for human interpretation. Several techniques are described in literature to enhance visual and thermal video. Amongst them are contrast enhancement, sharpening, noise reduction, bad pixel correction, High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging, de-hazing, de-vignetting, motion deblurring and super resolution.<br><br>The assignment can be tailored depending on your field of study and interests, and thus it can be either more research-oriented or more implementation-oriented.<br><br>You have to think about how to run the image enhancement processing as a parallel path in real time on video streams next to our traditional detection and tracking processing path and how to visualize the enhanced video for a human.
