PhD Research Fellow CLEGArbeidsgiverUniversitetet i OsloStedBlindern, 0316 OsloJob descriptionApplicants are invited for a 4-year position as PhD Research Fellow in the area of Curriculum Studies and Didactics to be based at the Department of Education, University of Oslo.Democracy, participation and sustainability are keywords that address global, national and localchallenges. Public education is expected to play an active role in responding to these challenges.Simultaneously, international organizations, stakeholders and interest groups offer differentsolutions and pose different future narratives for how to handle these challenges. Within thiscontext, national curricula and support structures are seen as devices that can govern education inappropriate ways.The PhD position is expected to contribute to a critical understanding of how national curriculumpolicies respond to democratic challenges promoted by global or local organizations or how schoolsand professions work to develop democratic, sustainable and inclusive practices in their daily schoollife.The project could compare Norwegian curricula with other countries’ curricula with a particularinterest in subject-specific or cross-disciplinary topics or the applicant can also zoom in on particularissues regarding national education politics and/ or programmatic work of professionals in schoolsand the surrounding society. A contemporary curriculum history approach to sustainability anddemocracy is also welcome. It is expected that the announced PhD position will be connected to the research group CurriculumStudies, Leadership and Educational governance (CLEG). More information about the research groupcan be found on the .More about the positionThe fellowship period is up to 4 years, with 3 years devoted to research education. The positionentails a compulsory workload of 25%, that consists of teaching and supervision duties and researchassistance.The research fellow must take part in the faculty’s approved PhD program and is expected tocomplete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is researchtraining leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree . Qualification requirementsApplicants must satisfy the requirements for admission to the faculty´s PhD programme. This normally includes:Applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in pedagogy, education or otherrelevant discipline in social sciences (e.g. law, sociology, political science).A Master’s degree (120 ECTS) with a minimum grade B (ECTS grading scale) or equivalent.
